Taking Medicine Back From Corporate Interests

The Corporate Practice of Medicine (CPoM) doctrine was conceptualized to protect the physician-patient relationship corporations placing profits over patients in the early 1900's. Most states prohibit CPoM, but they are broadly unenforced. It's time for the profession of medicine to reclaim the ethical basis of our profession - the physician-patient relationship, by expelling corporate interests.

Take Medicine Back began with emergency physicians organizing to take the specialty emergency medicine back from Private Equity in 2021, to bring together all medical specialties as well as patients to take the profession back. Emergency departments are the bellweather of the U.S. healthcare system - and they, and our physicians, are in crisis. Learn more about how Take Medicine Back started.
